‘Zack and Miri’ Don’t Make A Porno

December 25th, 2009 No comments

I had no idea that Target is so conservative. While shopping for last minute gifts, I spotted the DVD for Kevin Smith‘s Zack and Miri Make a Porno with the words “make a porno” edited out (real cover here). Apparently, “porno” is now too dirty a word to be seen in public. I’d understand the censorship more if the movie had been called Read more…

December 24th, 2009 No comments

A couple of weeks ago, HBO unveiled the poster for the upcoming Sex and the City sequel. It features a highly photoshopped pic of Sarah Jessica Parker wearing shiny sunglasses, with the tagline “Carrie On.” Now comes the trailer, which keeps both of those elements annoyingly intact and Read more…

December 20th, 2009 No comments

The snowstorms hitting the northeast didn’t put a chill on the box office for Avatar. James Cameron‘s long awaited 3D epic easily took the top spot with $73M. It’s the biggest opening ever for a non-sequel. The question of whether the movie will make back its reported $400M+ budget, a figure which makes it the most expensive movie in history, Read more…

Its Friday! Which means it’s time once again for the weekly roundup of my favorite pop culture atrocities, misfires and entertaining trainwrecks. This week’s theme: Christmas Specials.

Christmas ain’t what it used to be. Christopher Haak, a senior analyst with Mintel, a market research group, told the New York Times:

We’re seeing less conspicuous consumption and a more back-to-basics consumption.

This year, while it may be hard to avoid the fact that we’re facing a war in Afghanistan, an economy in the dumps and a Tiger Woods scandal that gives new meaning to the word tabloid journalism, it’s even harder to avoid Hollywood movies and TV shows aimed at Read more…

james cameron avatar

According to, an avatar is “a graphical image that represents a person, as on the Internet.” The word has also become synonymous with 21st century filmmaking because, of course, it’s the name of James Cameron‘s highly anticipated new blockbuster. The film has been the subject of much speculation (particularly its rumored $500 million budget) and an unbelievable amount of advance buzz. Read more…

sarah jessica parker mole

I normally don’t write about stories like this. What celebrities do with their faces is their business. But I must say, it’s kinda funny the way Sarah Jessica Parker is reacting to her fans’ reactions to her recent plastic surgery. Apparently her trademark mole was the key to her Read more…

First Look At ‘Iron Man 2’ Trailer

December 17th, 2009 No comments

This time around, Robert Downey, Jr.‘s outed as the Iron Man and he’ll be battling Mickey Rourke. With so much hullabaloo about the advance posters featuring Scarlett Johansson in place of Gwyneth Paltrow, I’m surprised that the trailer had the opposite problem: too much Gwyneth, and only a glimpse of Scarlett. Oh, and kudos to the producers for casting Garry Shandling. I haven’t seen much of him since Town and Country.
