Lauren Bacall Blasts ‘Twilight’: Tells Granddaughter To, “Watch ‘Nosferatu’ Instead”

At the ripe age of 84, screen legend Lauren Bacall has still got her wits about her. Not only has she managed to stay hip by appearing in provocative indie films like Dogville, but she has also been quite outspoken with her opinions on the current state of Hollywood.  Earlier this week, she told AP reporters:

I love my profession. I have tremendous respect for it. What I don’t have respect for is the red carpet and the celebrity scene. It’s become a zoo. It’s so stupid. They ask you stupid questions: ‘What are you wearing?’ Oh, Christ almighty!

She has an even lower opinion of the movies that Hollywood shells out these days. On her Twitter page, she blasted the teen sensation, Twilight.

Yes, I saw Twilight – my granddaughter made me watch it, she said it was the greatest vampire film ever. After the ‘film’ was over I wanted to smack her across her head with my shoe, but I do not want a (tell-all) book called Grannie Dearest written on me when I die. So instead I gave her a DVD of Murnau’s 1922 masterpiece Nosferatu and told her, ‘Now that’s a vampire film!’ And that goes for all of you! Watch Nosferatu instead!

She couldn’t be more right. Even John Carpenter‘s Vampires was better than Twilight.
