Advance Tickets For ‘Twilight’ Sequel Going To The ‘Moon’

What do you get when you mix a popular teen book series, endless amounts of behind-the-scenes gossip and an expensive year-long marketing campaign featuring homoerotic images of buff, under-aged heartthrobs? Answer: the most anticipated movie of the year. As of this moment, over 2,150 screenings for New Moon, the sequel to last year’s vampire megahit, Twilight, have already sold out.

A rep for MovieTickets.com tells WENN,

It’s accounting for 90 per cent of all ticket sales.

Two hundred shows have sold out in New York and L.A. alone. And, last Saturday, Fandango, the #1 online movie ticket distributor in the U.S., reported that New Moon had become the top selling pre-release title of all time, above The Dark Knight, Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. The movie opens this Friday, November 20, with special midnight screenings at select theaters across the country.

With all of the teenage Twi-hards, fans of the vampire genre and the movie’s new gay following (thanks to the studio’s exploitation of Taylor Lautner) chomping at the bit, New Moon will undoubtedly break box office records. People won’t even be able to recall the year 2012 or the words This Is It.

To quote the movie 300: “This is madness!” I don’t know about you, but I’m looking forward to a time when Twilight is not in the news every single day (I don’t care if Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are dating!!!). I guess I’ll have to wait until Avatar.
