Gary Coleman: 1968 – 2010

After suffering a brain hemorrhage from a nasty fall, actor Gary Coleman has died. As a child, he was the star of the popular sitcom, Diff’rent Strokes, about a couple of orphaned brothers who are adopted by a rich widower. His signature catchphrase, “What’choo talkin’ ’bout, Willis?” is among the most quoted line in the history of television (okay, that’s a stretch, but I still hear it a lot).

Coleman was marred with legal troubles in his adult years, and became, in the public’s view, almost a self-parody. Everything he did seemed made for the tabloids, including running for governor of California, working as a security guard and constantly dogging abuse allegations. Coleman was a tortured soul in Hollywood, chewed up and spit out by the town that made him a star. He was 42.
