HEY, I THINK I SEE A CELEBRITY! All Chi-Town Sightings From 10/4-10/11

From time to time celebrities do step out of LA and New York to venture over to the windy city! They’re not always A-list, but what the heck, we’ll take what we can get. This week’s sightings, as compiled by Red Eye:

Vince Vaughn was in town for the Chicago premiere of his new hit comedy Couples Retreat. Vaughn talked about his experience of swimming with sharks during filming to the Chicago Tribune, saying,

“Growing up around Lake Michigan, you’re not prepared for anything like that. When I first got in the water I was (nervous), but, like anything else, you get comfortable once you do it.”

Coincidentally, he said the exact same thing about Fred Claus. After the screening, Vaughn headed to Cuvee for the official after-party sponsored by Michigan Avenue Magazine.

Uma Thurman attended the opening night of the Chicago International Film Festival at the AMC River East 21, where her new movie Motherhood had its premiere. She also accepted a career achievement award.

There were some mishaps, however. Thurman reportedly made her way to the stage prematurely, as the film festival’s founder Michael Utza had yet to announce her name. Then, when the time came to hand over the award, he had to send staff to find it. Maybe they got cold feet after realizing that Uma has been starring in stinkers like The Avengers, Be Cool and My Super Ex-Girlfriend for well over a decade.

John Legend partied down at Rino on Friday night. The soul crooner revealed his love of auto-tune in a recent interview with the Boston Phoenix, saying,

I actually used Auto-Tune before it was popular, because I was working with Kanye on songs like “Jesus Walks” — which people don’t really realize was Auto-Tune because we used it differently. I don’t think it’s a terrible thing, I just think it’s probably too pervasive at this point. It’s cool that it makes music sound cool and interesting and futuristic.”

Cher would be proud.

Speaking of Kanye WestTaylor Swift‘s tour stopped in Chicago and the country star partied the night away at Le Passage on Friday after her show. Swift supposedly invited West, who she has now forgiven for interrupting her VMA acceptance speech to declare Beyonce the more-deserving winner. West couldn’t make it, though, so his DJ Timbuk2 went instead. Something tells me “Single Ladies” wasn’t on the playlist.

Last Monday, after a hard day’s work of filming Little Fockers, the third installment of the Meet the Parents series, Robert De Niro had dinner at Spiaggia. The family-friendly movie will center on the arrival of his character’s grandchildren. While dining, De Niro was overheard saying, “What has become of my ‘focking’ career.”

Another one of the Little Fockers co-stars, Jessica Alba, dined at Hub 51 last Sunday. The star of such films as Good Luck Chuck and The Love Guru gave birth to a baby girl herself last year. She talked about her pregnancy with Elle last March, saying,

Contractions aren’t that bad. If you’ve ever had bad cramps? That’s what they’re like.”

That sounds much less painful than having to sit through one her movies.

Thursday night, Dennis Rodman was spotted at Stanley’s rocking out to the Musikmeisters band. Who knew, the Bad as I Wanna Be author and former basketball star, who recently lost to Joan Rivers on Celebrity Apprentice, was into German Oompah Bands?! On second thought, I’m not sure what kind of music Rodman would be into.

Nicollette Sheridan dined at Sunda on Saturday night with a group of friends. The former Desperate housewife who split from her from her fiancee Michael Bolton last year, allegedly asked out a former boyfriend at the gym by saying,

Will you be my sperm donor?.”

Botox sure can make you say the darndest things!
