Hey, I Think I See a Celebrity! All Chi-Town Sightings, Week of 10/26
From time to time celebrities do step out of LA and New York to venture over to the windy city! They’re not always A-list, but what the heck, we’ll take what we can get. This week’s sightings:
Kelly Clarkson performed for a sold out crowd at the Rosemont Theater as part of her All I Ever Wanted Tour. She also gave a private performance for VIP guests at the swanky downtown eatery Hub 51. The show was put together by Eric and Kathy from WTMX FM 101.9. Several local celebrities attended the event including The Bachelorette‘s Jillian Harris and Jen Schefft-Waterman and Chicago Bears Jay Cutler and Caleb Hanie. The audience was aghast over the fact that Clarkson performed the show wearing a baggy T-shirt and leggings and that the “I Do Not Hook Up” singer left as soon as the show was over.
Shockingly, it seems she wasn’t interested in meeting The Bachelorette‘s. Also, it was probably a good thing that Chicago stalwart Kanye West wasn’t at the show. Clarkson was so upset by his antics at this year’s VMAs, she wrote an open letter to the hip-hop star that said,
It’s absolutely fascinating how much I don’t like you. I like everyone. I even like my asshole ex that cheated on me over you…which is pretty odd since I don’t even personally know you.”
Twilight star Boo Boo Stewart, who will be playing Seth Clearwater in Eclipse, the third installment of the steamy tween melodrama, has been making the publicity rounds since he was cast in the blockbuster series. Recently he attended a LifeSource Blood Twilight themed blood drive in Naperville, Illinois. His appearance, reportedly, contributed to the largest blood donation in the company’s history. Stewart recently talked about working with teen dream Taylor Lautner with E! Online. He said,
My sister just wants to come on set so she can see Taylor Lautner with his shirt off.”
Mayor Daley and mayors from the metropolitan area came together for an event celebrating two years of Jersey Boys at the Bank of America Theatre with the cast at Tuesday night’s show. I’m guessing he wasn’t celebrating Chicago’s failed Olympic bid or his 35% approval rating.
Bachelorette Jillian Harris was spotted at Rockit on Tuesday. Harris was recently asked by Entertainment Tonight what she thought about one of her cast-offs, Jake Pavelka being the new “Bachelor” for the upcoming season of the show. She said,
I think he’s going to make an interesting Bachelor. … He’s definitely got a lot of emotion so I think he’ll be very fun to watch.”
Foreigner members Kelly Hansen, Michael Bluestein and Brian Tichy attended the Angels & Kings’ live band karaoke costume party Wednesday night. Hansen, who replaced the band’s founding vocalist Lou Gramm told the Charleston Daily Mail,
I have to realize I’m only going to be me. As long as I feel I’m doing the best I can and doing the songs justice, then it’s worth it for me to be there. I went in with that attitude.”
Kenneth Edmonds a.k.a. Babyface hung out at Underground on Friday night. In a 2007 interview to promote his album Edmonds, who became famous creating hits for artists like Whitney Houston and Janet Jackson, talked about his own musical inspiration:
I’m a Dylan fan. I can’t say I’m a total fan, where I know all of his music, but I’ve known enough things and known his vibe and his poetry that I’ve always been a fan. I didn’t follow him as much because I can’t do what he does. The ruggedness and freeness of his voice, it’s cool. I wish I could do that. I didn’t so much try to follow in his footsteps, but I always appreciated his music.”
Members of the Redmoon Theatre Company from Logan Square played at the White House for Halloween. Obama was scared stiff when the group brought out his poll numbers.
