HEY, I THINK I SEE A CELEBRITY! All Chi-Town Sightings, Week of 6/28

From time to time, celebrities do step out of LA and New York to venture over to the windy city. They’re not always A-list, but — what the hell, we’ll take what we can get. This week’s sightings:

  • Entourage actress and adult film star Sasha Grey had dinner Saturday at The Spot in Uptown. Grey has kept a very busy schedule so far this year. Since January she has launched her own production company Grey Scale Entertainment, executive produced a show for G4 TV, put out two new 12 inch records with her band Telecine and starred in a horror film. Once she debuts a QVC jewelry line she really will be the Joan Rivers of porn.
  • Scottie Pippen threw a surprise party for his wife at Japonais on Saturday. Pippen and his wife could also have been celebrating the fact his legal victory against two former attorneys. A Cook County jury awarded the retired basketball star $2 million after Pippen alleged the attorneys had not conducted the proper inspections before advising him to sink over $1 million into a jet aircraft in 2002. Leaving the courtroom, Pippen told the Chicago Sun-Times:

I don’t want to really say anything, I’m just exhausted and tired.

Pippen’s ordeal gives new meaning to the term jet lag.

  • The Boston Celtics’ Paul Pierce hung out at The Underground on June 27 after his dinner at SushiSamba Rio and The Bulls Joakim Noah partied there on Saturday. Noah made local headlines recently, after he failed to show up for the basketball camp “Hoops for Health.” The basketball star had signed on to make an appearance at the camp last February, however he was a no-show when the event was held in early June. Brendan Kolton, who runs the basketball camp, told Chicago’s ABC 7 News:

We did 5,000 flyers and brochures with Joakim Noah on them. He was on the website. So obviously he was supposed to come but it didn’t happen.

Next year, the organizers of the event just have to lie and say it’s America’s Next Top Model Camp and sit back and watch the A-list sports stars roll in.

  • Julia Jones, who plays the lone she-wolf in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, made a surprise appearance at AMC River East and Regal City North movie theaters Friday to introduce the film. When she was asked by the Chicago Tribune, if there was anything that she was as fanatic about as much as the fans of the Twilight movies, she said:

I waited all night in line for The Seagull with Meryl Streep and Natalie Portman at The Public in New York. I also slept on 47th Street in high school to sit in the first two rows of Rent.

That still doesn’t answer the question of whether she’s on Team Edward or Team Jacob.

  • Rob Thomas had a private dinner at Joe’s Seafood Prime Steak & Stone Crab on Thursday while in Chicago for his performance at the Taste of Chicago.
  • Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni also was also spotted at Joe’s that night.
  • Bill Murray stopped by the Captain Morgan Club before Thursday’s Cubs-Cincinatti Reds game at Wrigley Field. He stood next to the Captain Morgan statue and raised a knee (the Captain’s signature pose) for a photo. In April, Murray dispelled the myth that Ghostbusters 3 was in development, much to the disappointment of  over-35 year old fanboys everywhere.
