Jack Black’s Video Game Caught In ‘Brütal’ Legal Battle

The reception for Year One hasn’t been the only bad news Jack Black has had this summer. His new video game, Brütal Legend, which was unveiled at the Electronic Entertainment Exp0 (E3) in early June and will be featured at this year’s Comic-Con, is caught in the middle of a heated legal dispute over who owns the rights.

According to the Associated Press, Activision is suing rival gaming company Double Fine, contending that it invested $15 million into the development stage and still holds a contract to release it.

Black provides the voice for the main character Eddie Riggs, a heavy metal roadie who, according to Double Fine’s press release, is:

drawn back through time to a mythical world dripped in Rock and Roll folklore; where great Metal titans once ruled and power chords rang from the countryside for all to hear.

Whatever happens in court, it actually sounds like they put a lot of thought into the storyline for this one. They could have just recycled the plot of Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny. It’s not like anyone has seen it or anything.
