Eminem Confirms his Role in Brüno Prank
Scott Aukerman, head writer for the MTV movie awards, has set the record straight about Brüno and Slim Shady. In a recent blog post, he admitted that the Andy Kaufman-esque stunt, which involved Sacha Baron Cohen throwing his family jewels onto an enraged Eminem spoiling all the fun.’s face, was completely staged. Aukerman later removed the post from his website. He must’ve felt bad about it. Eventually, even Eminem came clean about it in an interview with RapRadar.com:
Sacha called me when we were in Europe and he had an idea to do something outrageous at the Movie Awards. I’m a big fan of his work so I agreed to get involved with the gag. I’m thrilled that we pulled this off better than we rehearsed it…after the ceremony I went back to my hotel and laughed uncontrollably for about three hours. Especially after I saw it on air.
So that’s that. And is anybody really shocked? The stunt has been great publicity for the two stars at a time when they both have new projects to promote. I gotta hand it to Eminem, though…that disgusted look on his face sure looked authentic. Maybe he could win an Oscar someday. Oh, wait. I forgot.
