Oprah Shuts Down Chicago For 24th Season Premiere
If you weren’t aware that Oprah Winfrey owns Chicago, then you obviously weren’t on Michigan Ave. on Tuesday. The talk show queen hosted a block party to kick off her 24th season and thousands of fans showed up to be a part of it. It was a spectacle, complete with synchronized dancing and live music from The Black Eyed Peas.
While the idea of shutting down a major Chicago street for the purpose of a TV show did draw some controversy, the lavish event moved forward as planned. That was good news if you’re a fan of crappy, ubiquitous ballads such as “I Gotta Feeling”, but bad news if you were trying to leave work from downtown using public transportation.
