Gwyneth Paltrow Won’t Be Featured In ‘Iron Man 2′ Ad Campaign
Within the past couple of years, Gwyneth Paltrow has started a lifestyle advice website called Goop, unleashed an annoying TV show, opened a gym (that only her and Madonna can afford), expressed her desire to act in Spanish and demonstrated butt exercises on Conan. And what thanks does she get? None, if you ask Marvel Entertainment’s promotional department. Although she is one of the stars of Iron Man 2, which is currently being filmed, her image won’t be used to promote it. Instead, it will be Scarlett Johansson, who plays the Black Widow in the sequel to last year’s megahit. She will be in the promo posters standing alongside Robert Downey Jr. and Mickey Rourke, another new addition.
Paltrow’s publicist told WENN, “She is not upset at all.” The British newspaper The Sun painted a different picture, quoting a source who said, “Gwyneth was afraid she’d be upstaged by Scarlett and not being in the campaign was the final straw.”
She needn’t worry. Being upstaged by Johansson has become a rite of passage for every Hollywood actress nearing the age of 40. And Paltrow is no exception. She’s also wasn’t the only one left out. Paul Bettany, who played the creepy albino guy in The Da Vinci Code, and Garry Shandling, who apparently plays a character named Senator Sterm, aren’t going to be in the poster either. Well, at least they’re in the movie at all. I wouldn’t feel too sorry for anybody.
