Patrick Swayze: 1952 – 2009

September 14th, 2009 Leave a comment Go to comments

After a long battle with pancreatic cancer, Patrick Swayze has died. His film credits include The Outsiders, Red Dawn, Dirty Dancing, Ghost and Point Break. His huge success as a leading man in romantic comedies and action movies, eventually got him typecast in “beefcake” roles, which Swayze himself parodied in a classic SNL sketch where he and Chris Farley are competing Chippendales strippers.

Later in his career, he began to choose roles that played against type, most memorably in To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar, where he played a drag queen. Swayze  most recently starred in the A&E TV series The Beast. He was 57.
