Sony Loves ‘Eat, Pray, Love’: Studio Pays Big $$$ For Julia Roberts And ‘Glee’ Creator Ryan Murphy To Reteam For New Romantic Comedy

Sony executives are so impressed with the footage they have seen of Eat, Pray, Love starring Julia Roberts that they’re already willing to shell out big money for a repeat. The studio has signed both the actress and the director, Glee creator Ryan Murphy, to collaborate on another big screen project. Sony will pay Murphy $5 million to direct and write the script, which sounds like an updated version of the 1980s comedy Mr. Mom in reverse. In that movie, Michael Keaton played a husband who becomes the homemaker while his wife climbs up the corporate ladder. In the new movie, Roberts plays a working mother who has to resume her motherly duties when she loses her high paying job.

After slowing down over the last few years, taking on roles in offbeat movies like Charlie Wilson’s War and Duplicity, Roberts’ seems to be ready to regain her box office clout. In addition to Eat, Pray, Love which opens September 24, she stars in the comedy Larry Crowne, in which she reteams with her Charlie Wilson co-star Tom Hanks. Roberts continues to command a $10 million and up salary and was paid $3 million for Valentine’s Day, in which she has a little less than six minutes of screen time.
