Sony Releases New Poster For Upcoming Facebook Exposé ‘The Social Network’

Sony has released a new poster for their upcoming film The Social Network, which is being released in October. Directed by David Fincher (Fight Club, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) the movie tells the story of how the site was created with Jesse Eisenberg starring as Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg. When Betty White hosted Saturday Night Live in May, thanks to a successful Facebook campaign, she opened her monologue, saying:

When I first heard about the campaign to get me to host Saturday Night Live I didn’t know what Facebook was and now that I do know what it is I have to say it sounds like a huge waste of time.

Waste of time or not, its global reach now extends to 500 million users. If even a fraction of that audience buys a ticket to The Social Network, it has the potential to be a big hit. Although even with the built in audience interest, the dark storyline may turn off potential viewers in equal measure. The studio is promoting the movie using, what else, but Facebook.
