VULTURE DROPPINGS OF THE WEEK: Sitcom Reboots
Its Friday! Which means it’s time once again for the weekly roundup of my favorite pop culture atrocities, misfires and entertaining trainwrecks. This week’s theme: Sitcom Reboots.
The new Melrose Place, which debuted on the CW this fall, has gotten attention mainly for its lackluster ratings and for the fact that two of the cast members (Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Colin Egglesfield) were recently fired. In the producer’s attempt to boost ratings for the show, Heather Locklear will be reprising her role as femme fatale Amanda Woodward, which she played from 1993-1999 on the original series. From the looks of the new promos for her appearance airing on Fox, Locklear is ready to roll.
However, it remains to be seen whether the stunt will work for ratings or turn the show into the TV version of Basic Instinct 2. The odds are against it. Most of the time when the stars of a show return to the roles that made them famous, the result isn’t always pretty.

2. LIFE WITH LUCY (1986)
3. COSBY (1996)
